About Puerto 27:

Julio and Zoila, hailing from Lima, Peru, bring to life the rich culinary traditions of their homeland through the vibrant and soulful flavors of Puerto 27 and Fresca restaurants in California. Inspired by Julio’s formative years in his grandmother Maria’s kitchen and Zoila’s experience in her mother Dora’s trailblazing “peña,” they intertwine the aromatic spices, heartfelt memories, and the cultural heritage of Peru with a modern twist.

In 1978, the couple, along with their eldest son, embarked on a new chapter in California, carrying their family values and gastronomic traditions. Their shared experiences and enduring love for Peruvian flavors led to the creation of Puerto 27 and Fresca, establishments that reflect their journey from Lima’s spirited streets to the dynamic culinary landscape of San Francisco. These restaurants are not just dining spaces but embodiments of Julio and Zoila’s life, offering a taste of Peruvian tradition infused with the diverse influences of their new Californian home.

Puerto 27 opened its doors on April 27th, 2013. The restaurant is dedicated to honor Julio and Zoila’s late son Julito, whose birthday.
