About the artist, Adrian Arias:

This is poster #6 in a series for 30 bus shelters in San Francisco, celebrating lowrider culture.

Gleaming chrome, slow cruising, and careful craftsmanship turn the streets into a shared ritual. At the center of this tradition is Roberto Hernández, whose leadership has made lowriding a symbol of dignity, beauty, and belonging. These cars, painted with devotion, act as moving altars, reflecting los murales, music, storefronts, and faces of Barrio de La Misión. As Rebecca Solnit reminds us, history is not only written in books—it is carried forward through everyday actions. In the Mission, lowriding keeps memory alive, writing history in motion through art, imagination, and community.

Thanks to San Francisco Arts Commission.
